Calling for Help – Ambulance? Police?

Have you ever had times when the person you care for has been so dysregulated that you worried for their safety, or yours?

Did you wonder if you might need to call for an ambulance or the police?

Perhaps you were reluctant to do so because you were not sure if it was serious enough?

Obviously if the person has self-harmed or overdosed it is imperative to call for help. But what if the person threatens self-harm or threatens to harm you, or to someone else?

Would you be reluctant to call for help from the police because you weren’t sure how they would handle an already distressed person?  Do you wonder if they have any training about how to help and calm a person diagnosed with BPD?

Two Mental Health Co-Responders were our guests in August, to talk about how mental health callouts are addressed.

Audience members took these Notes, based on their understanding of the presentation.
