Kristy Acres spoke at our March meeting.

Kristy is a registered nurse now doing her PhD in collaboration with BPD Co. In 2019, she wrote a report, Carer Perspectives on ED Nursing for people with BPD , after consulting with Sanctuary members. She interviewed a few of us to understand what the issues were and what it is we carers would like to be done differently in Emergency Departments (ED). She presented her paper to nursing staff at a nursing symposium last year.

In March she talked about delivery of services to BPD consumers at times of acute crisis and the process of bringing together the voices of patients, carers and clinicians at this time. She included people’s experiences accessing emergency care delivery and considered ways it can be improved.
